Chef Maimuna Zubairu-Burnette, commonly known as Mai, immigrated to the United States with her family from Sierra Leone, West Africa at the age of nine. She currently resides in the Washington, DC area. Mai is the founder and CEO of Mai's Kitchen Food Service.
Mai’s Kitchen provides authentic West African food, elevated dining experiences, and premium products and services that celebrate West Africa’s rich tradition and culture. In 2019, she launched Dinner with Mai, to combine her passion for people and food. Dinner with Mai is a social event where guests enjoy authentic West African food with good company.
Mai’s Kitchen has been featured on several media outlets to include, Fox 5 DC and Travel Noire. The company has built a strong brand in the Washington, DC area by hosting Dinner With Mai dining events and private catering events.
